Carcassonne in July with teenager

Hello!

I%26#39;m travelling to Carcassonne in early July with my teenage son and partner. We%26#39;re wondering which is the best place to stay with a limited budget?

We think we will opt for the Maison sans Frontiere as they have a triple room and it is really good value, but according to a review, it%26#39;s about 15 mins walk from the walled city.

Will this matter? Is the walk a pleasant one (though it will be very hot then, I%26#39;m sure!)?

We are ideally looking for a room for three of us rather than pay for a double and single.

I stayed in Carcassonne in July with my teenage daughter. It was unbelieveably hot that year (2005) so not as enjoyable as it could have been. I had been in Carcassonne that year in March and it was freezing - you can%26#39;t win!! Having said we stayed outside Carcassonne in the Chateau de Cavanac which is about a 10 minute drive and we had a family room which cost us Euro100 for the night. It was a really nice roon - only thing was that it was in the attic so there were very steep steps up into the room but it was quite adequate for the few nights. Carcassonne is a very plesant town but one or two nights would be quite sufficient. If you have a chance go and see the Canal du Midi - its really beautiful.
