Paris to Normandy by train

From CDG Airport, would we have to go into central Paris to get a train to Caen or somewhere else in Normandy? Is CDG on a train line?

Yes CDG is on a train line, you need to come into Paris and then cross on the metro and leave by another station try www.voyages.sncf.com this should help you find your connections if not try Google search with your question there are many sites and there is also a bus into Paris from CDG. I think the cost by train into Paris is about 8 euros.

And the cost from Paris St Lazare to Caen is about 24 euros.
