What attractions are in which zones?????

Hi all,

Just wondering if you can help me, we are travelling to Paris for three days the start of March. As we plan to use the metro for alot of travelling between attractions, Im wondering if you can let me know which ones are in which zones, we plan to see the the usuals like the Arc de triumph, Eifel tower, Notre Dame, Lourve, other main tourist places..

I%26#39;ve heard people buying a carnet of tickets for the metro but are these just for certain areas or does one ticket do all zones??

Thanks in advance for ye%26#39;re advise

Most guidebooks will provide you with this information - have you looked at any?

With the exception of the Chateau de Versailles (Zone 4), most attractions in Paris are in Zone 1, which are covered by regular metro tickets such as the ones in the carnet. In fact, most of the popular attractions are in walking distance of each other, so you may not need to use the metro as often as you think. However, many convenient and cost-saving options exist:

If you arrive before Thursday and plan on using public transport 11+ times, purchase a Carte Orange (16.30E) instead. It allows unlimited use of the metro, bus, tram, and RER inside Zones 1-2. If this is phased out by the time you get there, buy a Passe Navigo Decouverte (16.30E + 5E card fee) instead. It%26#39;s the electronic chip version.

You may also buy a Mobilis Day Pass (5.60E), also valid for Zones 1-2.

As stated previously, Versailles is just outside Paris, and costs 5.60E round trip from Zone 1.

Hope that helps.

the entire Paris metro is covered by the base zone 1/2 ticket which come in the carnet. all of Paris. there are areas on the outskirts just outside of Paris and more distant towns available on the RER and if you go beyond Paris i.e. zones 1/2 it costs more -- but the metro is all 1/2

you can use the RER within Paris itself with those base metro tickets --

you will only need more expensive zone RER tickets for the airport, for Versailles and similar trips that are obviously beyond Paris

Thanks guys for ye%26#39;re helpfull advise,

I think I was getting confused between zones and arrondissement!!! , we will be arriving on a Friday and leaving on a Monday so will probably just buy the day passes for 5.60, we will not be heading to Versaille so I think those tickets will be fine if all the tourist sites are included in the one zone.. We will be let off at Porte Maillot by the shuttle bus if we wanted to get to Rue des Bernardins (I think the nearest metro is Maubert-Mutualite) can you recommend which route would be the most straight forward?? If it is very awkward would anyone have any idea of a taxi price between these two places..

Thank you so much for all ye%26#39;re help.

Metro 1 from Porte Maillot (direction: Chateau de Vincennes) to Concorde

Metro 12 from Concorde (direction: Mairie d%26#39;Issy) to Sevres-Babylone

Metro 10 from Sevres-Babylone (direction: Gare d%26#39;Austerlitz) to Maubert-Mutuatite

OR

Metro 1 from Porte Maillot (direction: Chateau de Vincennes) to Chatelet

Bus 47 from Chatelet (direction: Fort du Kremlin-Bicetre) to Maubert-Mutualite

Around €10-12 - but: taxis charge by the kilometers traveled and by the amount of time that you spend in the cab - making sitting in traffic an expensive proposition as well as a waste of time.

More metro options:

RER Line C - Porte Maillot -%26gt; Gare d%26#39;Austerlitz (Direction: Massy - Palaiseau OR Versailles Chantiers OR Dourdan OR Saint Martin d%26#39;Etampes)

Metro Line 10 - Gare d%26#39;Austerlitz -%26gt; Maubert Mutualité (Direction: Boulognes - Pont de Saint Cloud)

Or...

RER C - Porte Maillot -%26gt; Javel (Direction: Versailles Rive Gauche or Saint Quentin en Yvelines

Metro Line 10 - Javel - Andre Citroen (across the street on Av. Emile Zola) -%26gt; Maubert Mutualité (Direction: Gare d%26#39;Austerlitz)

Put them all in a hat and choose one! ;)
