Can anyone advise how bad the bus operations are from the center of Chamonix to the slopes. We are staying at the Mercure near the station and would prefer not to hire a car from Geneva as we are only staying 3 days. Where is the best and easiest area to ski

The buses are run by the local authority and are free with your lift pass. They are regular and frequent but I beleive can be crowded at peak time.
Best and easiest are two totally different areas.
Les grand Montets is by far the best skiing. Probably in the world. It is huge and steep and mainly off-piste.
La Tour is the easiest.
Brevente/Flegere somewhere in between.
