We are planning a trip to Provence in September, with a one week apartment/house rental. We would like a location in town or near a town, with easy access to restaurants, grocery, etc. We plan to take day trips by rental car to Uzes, Gordes, Rosillon, St. Remy, and possibly the coast near St. Tropez or farther east. We are considering Goult and Sault. Any recommendations or other suggestions?

Stay in St Remy if you can. It%26#39;s within easy reach of the bits you want to see and has great places to eat.
Alternatively if you definitely want to go further east. stay in Aix, and you can get to St Tropez, the coast and places west fairly easily. Whatever you do, you WILL need that car.

I would recommend Chateau de la Loubiere, see my TA review, it is about 20 mins drive from Aix and is in the Luberon countryside about 4 miles from the town of Pertuis. It wold provide you with an ideal base and you would be able to visit the places you mention from there
