First time to Paris - looking for first night restaurant

We are 4 mature travellers going to Paris for 4 days. 16th- 19th Feb arriving at CDG approx 17:30

We are staying on Rue De L%26#39;etoile(near the Arc D%26#39;Triomphe)

One our party will be celebrating 50th birthday.

Can anyone reccommend a local restaurant reasonably priced. We have heard some stories about high prices. We dont mind spending money but dont like to be ripped off. I do understand that tourisy areas are more expensive

If any body can suggest other places for our 4 days irt would be appreciated

Thanks

Douggie

I really enjoyed the prix-fixe menu at Le Tastevin on the Ile de France, near Berthillon. I chose the lamb and it was absolutely incredible, plus the location can%26#39;t be beat for your first night out in Paris, you can walk down the Seine and look at the city, fairly easy metro access and other shops nearby. I believe the prix-fixe was about 65Euros for 3 or 4 courses, which was very reasonable.

Personally, I would advise against planning a celebration meal on the day you arrive, in case you get delayed.

Even if you arrive on time, you are looking at 19:00h or later when you arrive at your hotel. It would be a rush to check in and freshen up before dinner.

Therefore, I would advise just taking the rest of the evening easy, and plan for this celebration meal the next day if you can.

I do not know the area you mentioned well, however, I would advise making a trip to the large Brasserie La Coupole on Boulevard du Montparnasse. Great food at reasonable price, and a great place to people watch. Always busy so try and book in advance. Not sure if they take bookings to be honest, the place is huge and we walked in one Feb (not 14) evening and got a table right away.

I celebrated my 40th birthday at the restaurant of Hotel de Crillon, expensive, yes, however, it was worth every penny. The grandness of the decor, impeccable service and great food, happy memories!

I guess everyone%26#39;s perception of value for money is different!

Happy 50th in advance!

The only place we went to near the Arc d%26#39;T was to Laduree. Wish we had a Laduree here in NYC. Enjoyed the food and of course the fabulous macaroons! Outside of that, we did enjoy a number of value for money dining experiences throughout the city. Here are some:

Le Florimond: 19, av de la Motte-Picquet in the 7th Er. Tel: 01-45-55-40-38; Au Bon Accueil: 14, rue de MOnttessuy in the 7th Er. Tel: 01-47-05-46: Reminet: 3, rue des Grands-Degres in the 5th Er. Tel: 01-44-07-04-24. Also, enjoyed Petit Pontiose (5th Er) and La Cordonnerie (1st Er), Le Dauphin on St-Honore near The Louvre.
