Taxi from CDG Airport to Eiffel Tower?

Hi, i have booked a weekend break in August for me and my girlfriend staying at a Hotel 10 minutes away from the Eiffel Tower (Hotel Relais Bosquet). Does anyone know how much it is likely to cost if we caught a taxi from CHARLES DE GAULLE AIRPORT to our hotel? I know the metro is cheaper but dont fancy trying to negotiate what stops we need to get on and off at unless anyone knows and can assure us its pretty straight forward and we wont get lost? I dont know if there is a metro station near our hotel but if anyone knows the route i would have to take via the metro please let me know.

Thanks for your help,

Justin

Justin,

We%26#39;ve taken a taxi from near here to CDG and it cost around 45 euros. The nearest metro is Ecole Militare on line 8, which would entail 3 RER/metro lines--I probably wouldn%26#39;t say it%26#39;s real %26quot;straight forward%26quot;, but here%26#39;s one way to do it: RER B (direction Orsay-Ville) to Gare du Nord; transfer to metro line 4 (direction Porte d%26#39;Orleans) to Strasbourg-Saint-Denis; transfer to metro line 8 (direction Balard) which takes you to Ecole Militare. Have fun planning!

Another suggestion - don%26#39;t know whether this would work for you but here goes - take the AirFrance bus to the Arch de Triomphe and take a taxi from there. I did this in reverse when I was in Paris in March: took a 10 euro taxi ride from the Hilton on Avenue Sufren (really right next to the Eiffel Tower!) to the Arch and then they stowed our luggage in the belly of the bus and we went to CDG on the AirFrance bus. To come up with the cost for you, see the recent AirFrance thread that discusses the cost (it%26#39;s a comfortable bus and comfortable ride and very straightforward) and see how close your hotel is to the Arch de Triomphe. With luggage, it%26#39;s not doable to walk from the Arch to the Eiffel Tower - I would never suggest that - but the taxi ride from the Hilton was really a very short hop. Also, the thread has mention of how to catch the AirFrance bus at the airport, I think.

Regarding the Air France Bus, an alternative to a taxi is the 92 city bus, getting off at the Ecole Militaire stop. Just walk clockwise to the next street past the Champs Elysses, Avernue Marceau, and you%26#39;ll see the bus stop. You can buy tickets from the driver.

For a map of your hotel location, use this:

I wouldn%26#39;t worry about getting lost if you choose the RER and the Metro. The system is very easy to negotiate. Plus you%26#39;d be able to use it going back to CDG.

you could take the Roissy Bus and it%26#39;s non-stop to the Paris Opera - by all the big department stores. From there taxi to Eiffel. You%26#39;ll save $$$$$.

Hi, thanks for all the information.

I have just been on a website and looked at the Les Cars Airfrance Bus which runs from CDG Airport to the Arc de Triomphe. Just wondering once we get to the Arc de Triomphe how easy is it to grab a taxi, will there be cars parked on the side of the road waiting to pick people up or will we be walking around a while trying to find one? Also will i need to order the tickets for the Airfrance Bus or can i pay the driver when we land? The website i was on quoted me £8.50 per person, is this about right? Also will i need to buy 4 tickets, 2 to use when we land to get into paris, and then use the other 2 to get back to airport.?

Thanks again everyone,

Justin

There is a ticket booth at the airport where you pay your fare. When you arrive, there is a taxi stand right across the street. If no taxis are availiable, you can take the city bus.

The one way fare on the Air France coach is 12€. If you know you will be returning the same way to CDG you can buy a return ticket for 18€. In addition to buying your ticket at the Air France booth, you can also buy them when you board the coach. At CDG the coaches leave from Gate 34 on the arrivals level of Terminal 1 and gate B1 from terminal 2.

There will most likely be taxis waiting when you arrive as the taxi drivers are aware of the coach schedules. If not, and if you do not want to take a bus, you will probably only have to wait a very few minutes.

When I went to the AirFrance.com website yesterday, the information about the buses (les cars) had the lines (there are 4 but I think just two are from CDG) and the prices quoted were: one-way for an adult 8 euros, 12 euros roundtrip for an adult, 4 euros for children between 2 and 11 (that must be one-way), children under 2 travel for free and there is a 15% discount for groups of 4 people or more.

I paid my fare right on the bus at Arch de Triomphe. There were plenty of taxis there. Because the driver took my fare that way, I%26#39;m thinking he would also take it in cash at CDG too. The bus leaves every 15 minutes from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and takes about 35 minutes to get from Orly to Invalides. The website gives approximate travel times for all 4 lines.

What I liked was the way my luggage was stowed in the belly of the bus - I had a ton of luggage!

Good luck!

kathyw -

The fares you are quoting are for the coaches from ORLY to Paris. The fares from CDG are as I quoted them.

Irishrovr,

Right you are - I actually looked at the website because I was looking up the trip from Orly! Good that you corrected me my correction!
