Hop On Hop Off Bus ???

Is there such a thing in Paris ? We have done them in the past and they are a great way to see a city you are visiting and are inexpensive. If so what is the cost and how many routes are there ?

Google for L%26#39;Open Tour.

|||

Asoted googel L%26#39;Open tour they have a good website in english.

I have used them, and they were fun. Cost is 28 euros for two days or 26 for one day, obviously two day is best deal.

They circle three routes and they do hit all main highlights.

Buy ticket when you board and you can board at any marked stop. Check map for stop nearest your hotel( as I said they stop by every main tourist site so just look for the yellow and green sign by the bus stops.

|||

Why for goodness sake can%26#39;t tripadvisor have an edit or modify post button like all the other boards,, argh,,,

Should say %26quot; as noted%26quot; not %26quot;snoted%26quot; LOL

I used it and I loved it! I bought the 2 day pass I went to viator.com was pricey but woth it! (98 dollars total for 2 and 2 days)

the starting point of one of them starts near Galleries lafayette

|||

One doesn%26#39;t need to buy from viatour, they are just an agency that sells other compamys products and then tacks on an extra fee. It is always better to book direct. For instance , no need for viatour to book tickets for Moulin Rouge or Lido, book directly they almost all have their own websites. The magic of google.

The hop on and off buses are best enjoyed when weather is half decent, I mean who wants to sit on top deck of an open top bus in the rain, so like last year I was going to use them again( I had brought a friend who had never been to Paris) but it was rainy and cold so we opted out . Nice to have that choice by buying when one boards.

%26#39;..pric-ier..%26#39; than you think. The regular fare for a 2-day L%26#39;Open Tour ticket is 29€ per person...58€ for two(2)...the equivalent of approx. $43 per person...$86 for two....which is a $12 premium for exactly ZERO added convenience provides by the on-line vendor...since one can simply pay the regular official fare to the conductor of any L%26#39;Open Tour bus, at any stop, along any of its four(4) circuits, in either €uro cash or with a major credit card when they board the bus for the first time.

With few exceptions, pre-purchase of tourist products like PARIS L%26#39; OPEN TOUR tickets, PARIS VISITE transportation passes, PARIS MUSEUM PASSES, and most other tourist products, through third-party agents like VIATOUR (which tack on their own profit margins, fees, shipping %26amp; handling charges to the regular price in Paris) is a generally bad idea....and for the most part simply adds cost WITHOUT benefit (at least not to the purchaser). All of the various tourist tour and transportation products offered by %26#39;..re-packager/agents..%26#39; like VIATOUR may be purchased directly from the providers at substantially LESS than the offering price.

At the very least, BEFORE you pre-purcahse ANY tourist product from an agent....compare the regular price charged by the actual providor of the product in Paris. A few €uro saved here...a few more €uro saved there...and a few more €uro somewhere else can add up to a better hotel--for an additional night or two...very nice dinner--or two...something nice for yourself that you might otherwise not purchase...or just still in your pocket to walk around with.

Then there is the Batobus, operating on the Seine. On the web site, click on the various stops:

We used L%26#39;Open Tour on our first visit to Paris and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. If I remember correctly, you don%26#39;t have to wait very long for a bus to show up. The hop-on and hop-off was great and really was good to see the city for someone who has never been. I recommend it.

|||

Totally recommend it, a great way to orientate yourself in Paris plus seeing the major sites. We brought our ticket on the bus . The route takes approx 2.5hrs with frequent stops. Price 21.00Euro

Stops - Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars, Musee Du Louvre, Notre Dame, Musee D%26#39;Orsay, Opera, Champs Elysees, Grand Palais, Trocadero

While there last July, there was also %26quot;Les Cars Rouges%26quot;... similar concept to %26quot;L%26#39;Open Tour%26quot; but I think they have less stops, also a bit cheaper.

BTW, here%26#39;s the link for L%26#39;Open Tour if you%26#39;re interested.... http://www.paris-opentour.com/

bon voyage.
