Mont Saint Michel

Can anyone please advise the best vantage point for wathing the tide change at Mont Saint Michel and generally what is the best time of day to arrive there? Thanks

Of course the tides follow the moon so they change every day. This website might be useful. The daily tidal schedule is at the top of the window:

At some point, if not already, the tidal areas are going to become a huge construction site. The website explains.

Thanks but what I was really asking was whether the island is cut off at high tide and you watch from the mainland or whether the causway remains open when the tide is high and you can still get to and from the castle.

The causeway is always open but the parking lots at the island-end do flood occasionally.

Metromole, I am visiting in late May and I am wondering what state the causeway will be in. Does anyone else know, or do you suppose I enquire with contact on the project site? They don%26#39;t seem to have any info on the timetable of works on the website.

To be honest, MSM trip and our stay in St Malo is a little out of way. I%26#39;m not sure if MSM will have quite the same effect with the construction. (Certainly not from a photography point of view).

The part of the project that will affect tourism will be the construction of parking lots on the mainland, the removal of the causeway, and the construction of a bridge to replace it. From what I read when we were last there, the project begins in %26quot;Spring 2008%26quot; and will be finished sometime in 2012. They say that the island will be completely accessible throughout the project.

Well i was in Mont St Michel last August, and although my collegues did notice some construction work, i didn%26#39;t notice anything, just the same gorgeous views as always. I think it is just the beginning of the construction works so i don%26#39;t think it will spoil the view anyway, they are starting to build the bridge but they were starting further more inland
