Paris cooking school that serves meals to public.

Does anyone know of a cooking school in Paris that serves meals to the public prepared by the students?

Are you referring to schools that have fully operating dining rooms with nice meals at a cheaper rate than you would find in fancy restaurants?

A few months ago, I had a fabulous lunch at the Ecole Superieure de Cuisine Francaise - Ferrandi, rue de l%26#39;Abbe Gregoire, 6th arr. Not only was the food prepared by the students, but our waiters and sommelier were Ecole Ferrandi students too. For most courses, we had a choice between two dishes. Everything was beautifully prepared. In addition to the items listed on the menu, the kitchen also sent out %26quot;freebies%26quot; - dishes that the students happened to be working on that day; we received tastings of two kinds of amuse bouche and a mini-ile flottante, for example.

The woman who led our foodie tour said that she tries to make lunch reservations at the Ecole Ferrandi at least 2 months in advance, because it%26#39;s very popular with locals. However, if it%26#39;s not practical to reserve that far in advance, I believe that tables are sometimes available at the last minute because of cancellations.

I have just looked at their website (in translation) but could see no mention of this restaurant aspect - does anyone know how to find out? or to makea booking? It soudns a great idea. Thanks in anticipation

vicolivia - I don%26#39;t think the restaurant has its own website. The foodie-tour leader who hosted our lunch there says she makes bookings by telephone: 01 49 54 17 31. (If calling from outside France, preface with 33, and drop the 0.) You can also email for bookings and more info: resaresto@ccip.fr

During our lunch there, the maitre d%26#39; came over to chat, and said that the restaurant doesn%26#39;t advertise or otherwise seek publicity, because they always get more patrons than they can handle, just through repeat business and word-of-mouth recommendations.
