Selfcatering Family accommodation around Carnac

We are traveling to Brittany this June for the 2nd time. We enjoyed it last year but stayed in hotels. This year we would like to stay in a place that has other families (we have 2 children 5%26amp;6) so that they have company. Does anybody know of a %26quot;holiday Village/complex%26quot; that does selfcatering but not a campsite/mobile home around southern Brittany. Ideally with a pool and somewhere to go in the evening with the children who can play with other children. I Dont want to rent a private house/gite and be sitting at home in the evening with just ourselves.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Many families operate gites which develop into %26quot;small hotel complexes%26quot;, some are on farms where there is much for children to do and explore. You should be able to find what you are looking for in the above list.

There is a big French group called Pierre et Vacances http://www.pierreetvacances.com/ which could be worth investigating, though they don%26#39;t look to have a village in Carnac. However, I%26#39;m not sure whether they attract a lot of English-speaking guests with 5/6 year olds, so your children may be at a disadvantage with any %26#39;company%26#39;.

Another option could be to check out the big camping operators (Keycamp, Eurocamp, etc) then go directly to the websites of the campsites they use to see whether there are other accommodation options if you rent directly from the site. This is possibly the easiest way of locating holiday complexes with the sort of facilities you%26#39;re looking for.

Incidentally, don%26#39;t dismiss mobile homes - some are very spacious and comfortable, and the private barbecue and eating area means the children have a bit of their own space to play outside. If you book through the big companies, you can also access their childrens clubs in the daytime (generally Dutch / English speaking) so the children can meet others the same age.

Domaine des Ormes near Dol de Bretagne (not quite in Carnac but about 90 minutes drive away) may suit your needs.

They have camping and mobile homes but also chalets and a hotel.

I%26#39;ve also remembered, other members of the Castels chain do chalets as well.

Domaine des Ormes near Granville in Normandy is lovely and would be very suitable for your children (we stayed there last summer)

As does the Chateau de Galinee

All of the sites in the Castels group are extremely well run. Most have good restaurants.
