Best Hotel

Hi _ we%26#39;re going to Champagne in June. Anybody have any advice on which chateau to stay in? We are thinking of Chateau Crayeres and Chateau de Fere.

It depends partly where you want to be. The Crayères is almost in the middle of Reims - one of the centres (with Epernay) of the Champagne business, so ideal if you want to be close by to visit some Champagne Houses and also see the sights of Reims. The Fère is more in countryside, nearer the town of Château-Thierry. Also I would expect the Crayères to be a big step up in quality if you can afford it, especially the restaurant which is one of the 2 finest in Champagne. Having said that the Fère also has a good reputation. Both are recommended by Tom Stevenson, well-known writer on Champagne.
