Saint Germain/Odeon - anywhere that caters for toddlers?

Hi there, We%26#39;re staying in the Saint Germain area near the Odeon in a week or so. I wondered if anyone can recommend a bistro style restaurant that would be OK to take a 20 month old baby along too. I%26#39;m not crazy enought to contemplate dinner in the evening - just a lunchtime visit midweek. We%26#39;d need a place that has high chairs we can strap the little one into!

HI,

Sorry I can%26#39;t really recommend anywhere as I don%26#39;t really know that area of Paris that well. But in general Paris restaurants are very welcoming to even young children like yours, usually they are made a great fuss of. However, despite being welcoming very few restaurants have high chairs and those who do often have chairs so old that to me they are dangerous. A better idea for you maybe to bring or to buy in Paris a children%26#39;s chair that fits onto a normal chair. We have one for our son and it is great, no worries at all about where we can eat with him regarding seating - we use it all the time. THe one we have is rigid plastic folding one but I think you can buy similar cloth ones which would be easier to bring with you.

Sorry to be unable to tell you anything more specific but hope this is helpful anyway

There is a chain of restuarnts in Paris called the Red Hippotomos. We ate there last week and I saw children and high chairs there. the one we ate at was in Mont Mart but I saw these places all over Paris. The food was good, not great, and the service was good.

Hippopotomus Grill is not that good, I don%26#39;t think I would recommend it. However they do have high chairs which is a luxury. Bistro Romain probably has them as well. A chain restaurant like those will have high chairs.

I have brought two babies to Paris and eaten in all sorts of establishments, but none had high chairs. Not one. Maybe it was my choices, but no pizza place, bistro, restaurant, nothing. We got one in Normandie at an Italian restaurant and it was like being in heaven!

My husband holds the babes on his lap and we do fine.

That isn%26#39;t to say they don%26#39;t exist, but they are few and far between.

In any case, there are soooo many cafes, italian restaurants, bistros, etc., in that area ... my toddlers liked the pizza, croque monsieur and baguettes the best...
