My husband and i are spending 3 nights in Paris this April. We are looking for a convenient hotel near the Musee De Louve - any suggestions would be great!
thank you!

Try the Villa Modigliani in Montparnasse. Doubles cost about Euro 150 all in. The hotel is set in a quiet courtyard of the street and is both secluded and serene. The rooms are not huge, but the beds are comfortable and the showers are powerful. The downstairs lobby of the hotel and the bar are both very pleasant. There%26#39;s a great seafood restaurant called Le Dome, literally 300 metres down the street from the hotel. Rue de L%26#39;Ambre, the street where the hotel is situated, is full of different delicatessens, patisseries and wine shops. Definitely worth checking out.

Sorry, just realised that you want a hotel near the Musee de Louvre (not in Montparnasse). Obvious choice is the magnificent Hotel du Louvre. But I think it costs fairly big bucks. Why not simply type %26quot;hotels near the Louvre%26quot; into google or yahoo and see what these search engines come up with ? Once you get the names of a couple of hotels in the vicinity, you can then assess them by using the search function for hotels on Tripadvisor Paris.

Thank you Insightful...good advice. Do you think we should stay in a different part of Paris...your suggestions would be great. I see you are from Dublin, my husband grew up there. We just came back from a visit to Cork over Christmas holiday.

lovetrippin, just did a quick search and found the %26quot;Hotel Louvre Sainte Anne%26quot;. It%26#39;s number 32 on Tripadvisor Paris and most of the reviews are very favourable. It also fits your price range as it works out a less than Euro 150 for a double. And it is within close walking distance of the Louvre and many other attractions. So worth checking out.
As regards your question about staying elsewhere in Paris. This is an equally valid option. Public transport in Paris (including the Metro, the RER and the bus service) is very good and you can really travel from one place to another quite quickly.
Dublin has been a bit grey for the past couple of weeks. We%26#39;re hoping that the negative weather will lift and that we will get a couple of those blue-skied January days, which are such a rarity here.

Insightful...thank you for the information. I checked out the website and location - looks perfect for us!
Sounds like it%26#39;s time for you to plan a trip to the warm weather! Been very cold here - we are about 1 2o min outside of NYC - it%26#39;s been in the 30%26#39;s. Looking forward to spring in Paris!

I just returned from my Parisian trip and I booked my flight and 7 days 6 nights hotel with Yahoo travel, for $ 945 (600 euros)a 3 star hotel only 4 blocks to the Arc and Les Champs Great Location. Next time book your trips with Yahoo or google Orbitz etc.
Note the rates for this hotel was 165 e a night, I asked other guest and that was what they paid for.

Check out the Hotel St. Andre des Arts in the 6th arrondissement. It%26#39;s not in the same arrondissement as the Louvre, but it%26#39;s an easy walk across the river, and I think the St. Andre des Arts neighborhood is as good a location as you could ask for in Paris. It is very inexpensive for the neighborhood and, though simple, well-maintained and well-run. The staff is friendly, helpful, professional, and the street is central and lively day and night. The breakfast isn%26#39;t much, but the best boulangerie/patisserie we encountered in all of France is a block or two down the street.

This may not be helpful but we stayed at Hotel Londres Eiffel and traveled/walked to the louvre from there, the hotel 4 blocks from the ET. The Louvre is crowded and too huge IMHO. Spend your time elsewhere, like la musee d%26#39;orsay, les invalides, or walking thru the Latin Quarter or la Marais or on Notre Dame, Ile de la cite. Every neigborhood in Paris is wonderful, you cannot go wrong. Don%26#39;t miss Angelina%26#39;s, across the street from the Louvre for the world%26#39;s best hot chocolate, more a liquid fudge.
Bon Voyage!!

lovetrippin, the Louvre isn%26#39;t always crowded. It is open from 9 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Also extended opening hours on a Wednesday until 9.45 p.m., and the Richelieu Wing (one of the main wings) is open until 9.45 p.m. on Mondays.
If you get there round 9.30 a.m. or 10 a.m. or so, it will not be too crowded. And, round about 8.30 p.m. on Wednesday is really idyllic, when the crowds are small and you can see eveything you wish to see. So, obviously, lovetrippin, the Louvre should remain high up on your itinerary.
