Place Carnot turned into an ice rink, trees, streets and houses resplendant with illuminations. Christmas trees everywhere. Two markets one near the canal du midi next to the station and the other in Place Carnot selling vin chaud. Childrens luge and giant wheel. There were dozens of robotic animations and 400 cribs from around the world in a hall just off Place Carnot, beautiful and enchanting.
Atmosphere fabulous.
Flight home cancelled on Friday 14th Dec so had to endure a longer stay. Shame.
Had a walk in the snow at Pic de Nor just above Pradelles on Sunday, people skiing

Sounds like you had a great time, was there snow in Pradelles as well? Did you take any photos of the snow ect....... dont suppose..... no I cant ask (far to cheeky i spose......)
I hope we have some snow in Jan, although Im a bit worried about driving the roads if its icy. especialy between caprespine and pradelles.
I would of loved to see the markets , maybe next year.
Glad you had a good time
Happy new year to you and yours

Hi Skiddy. Drove past Pradelles and into Pic de Nor. Got some photographs of the Pyrenees and the area around Pic de Nor. We drove from Villardonnel in one direction and returned via the D118. The return journey was exquisite, about 25 mins to Villardonnel. I%26#39;m in Villardonnel weekend of the 25th January.
Someday we%26#39;ll meet up at Place Carnot for that drink.
Bonne Annee

Good for you enjoy your holiday. I plan to semi -retire in febuary 2009, probably work 2-3 days per week which will allow more opportunities to visit.
I also have French lessons, I think it%26#39;s important if you are planning to move there. I have however met several people who can%26#39;t speak any French but manage to survive.
I%26#39;ll be over 25th to 28th Jan. we will be visiting for 3 weeks in July.
How does Carcassonne and the Montagne Noir compare with your home area in England ?

Hi hope you have a good few days, we got back yesterday, it was great and the sun was shining.
The area we are in there and rural Cornwall here are very simular except the views are more stunning and the weather better hotter when its hot and colder when its cold.
My hobbies are walking , horse riding, reading, cooking(and eating)wasting time on sunny squares sipping a bit of the red stuff.playing with my camera, exploring new places, and growing my own veg and gardening, so I think I will have lots to keep me busy in my area , dont you ??
Yes I have also met lots of people who dont bother to learn the language, which is fine if you only want to go to the supermarket, but i need a goal in life which will be to learn the language, culture and history of my new home so I think french will play a large part of that.
Im hoping to be out for 3 weeks in july too as i want to see the fireworks this year, also, maybe some time in may aug and dec. if i can
hope you are having fun.
