This may sound like a silly question, but I%26#39;m going to Paris at the end of February, when it will still be cold but I%26#39;m sure the shops in Paris will be in full spring attire.
I live in Atlanta, where you rarely need a winter hat, so they%26#39;re hard to find here as well.
I%26#39;m a 31 yr old female.. not a fashion maven by any means but certainly not hopeless. I like to look good. I can not decide what style of hat to get for this trip. Is it a total cliche to wear a beret in Paris? They are in style on our side of the pond. But your hat is really the item that screams %26quot;tourist!%26quot;, and as much as I know I%26#39;m going to be able to be spotted as a tourist, I am trying to avoid screaming it. ;)
So if you have any ideas for a warm, fashionable hat, I%26#39;d be happy to hear them. Thanks :)

hey there, we%26#39;re going on our trip in june and i%26#39;m still bringing hats just in case for bad hair days or to play up certain outfits, etc. but i am definitely NOT looking at berets of any kind. i just think it%26#39;s cheesy in my opinion. on my shopping list i have about 3-4 good hats. they%26#39;re hard to describe but i would suggest not doing the beret. have you seen the kind of hats jessica alba wears? thats more fashionable in my opinion than a beret. it doesn%26#39;t scream tourist as long as you put yourself together well.

You can wear a type of beret that you pull down a bit, not just %26#39;perched%26#39; on your head... or a knit cap.... or a cloche hat..... no one is going to care... it won%26#39;t be touristy unless it has a slogan like %26quot;I %26#39;heart%26#39; Paris%26quot; or something...

Go to an outdoor clothing store in your neighbourhood. These days, the clothes and hats are becoming more mainsteam in their looks and will definitely fit the bill for warmth.

Hello fellow Atlantan :-) I too am going to Paris mid February and this will be my 5th trip (all have been in Winter). I predict that the weather isn%26#39;t as cold there as it is here (walked dog this morning in 21 degree weather!) It wouldn%26#39;t hurt to bring along either a ski-hat (to have in your bag to pull out if it is extraordinarily cold or windy) or one of those behind-the-ears ear muffs. Ear muffs and a good scarf should also suffice. I see Macys is selling the ear-muffs currently.
I think more than a hat - bad shoes scream tourist - don%26#39;t try to wear heels during the day - you%26#39;ll be walking way too much and it would be a shame to have your feet ruin your trip. There are plenty of stylish looking %26#39;Merrill%26#39; type shoes available (Dillards) or flat/rubber-soled boots that may work well too. Enjoy your trip!

Go with a Gavroche: stylish, not cliché, hide hear and ears and not too hot.

You mean like a newsboy, or newsie? I%26#39;ve seen some online but haven%26#39;t been able to find one to try on. I%26#39;m keeping my eyes open though.
I like the examples posted above.. thanks for those links!
And hello ATLLocal! I%26#39;m wearing my Merrill%26#39;s right now.. love em! They%26#39;re absolutely coming to Paris with me.
You%26#39;re right, it won%26#39;t be much colder in Paris than it is here, but I plan to spend a lot more time outside in Paris than I do at home in these temps. :)
