My family will be in Paris in February and I%26#39;d love to have a list of some playgrounds. We have just one child - he%26#39;s 8 and we try to hunt down good playgrounds for him to connect with other kids. So - anyone?? I%26#39;d love to find a website listing the world%26#39;s best playgrounds, maybe I should create it.

Luxembourg Gardens (paid playground and fabulous), Tuileries, Jardin D%26#39;Acclimation to name a few.
Please do a search on TA to find the details. It%26#39;s all there.
American children will have the playgrounds mostly to themselves during the week until about 4:30, when the French children arrive, except on Wednesdays. Weekends are, of course, busier.

Thanks - anyone know when french kids are on school break in February - I see amny restaurants outside Paris change their schedules during school breaks.
If anyone knows of any other playgrounds in paris/Noramdy let me know!

I would second aoi33%26#39;s picks - especially the paid playground in the Luxembourg Gardens.

Just for fun, you might be interested in looking at the work of this German playground designer:
www.kellner-steckfiguren.de/english/
He also makes toys, so click on Playgrounds and download the catalogue.
His work is innovative and whimsical... unlike the traditional playgrounds that you’ll find in Paris. The two styles are equally beautiful and fun for the kids.
As regards Paris, I agree with suggestions for the Luxembourg Gardens (where my husband played as a child) and the Tuileries (where our grandchildren play).

the two mentioned are great, particularly the pay playground for older kids at the Luxembourg Gardens -- 8 is the perfect age for that
another thing he might enjoy are the rental toy sailboats often available at the pond at Luxembourg Gardens and at the Tuilleries

I also recommend going to look at the Stravinsky Fountains near Pompidou Center. They are very colorful, whimsical and have lots of move parts. I think a kid would like them.
Park Montouris also is a wonderful place for kids. They have a guignol marionnette theatre, pony rides, etc.
