Is the Friday market in Venti held all year round please?
I presume you get there from Nice by train.
Anyone know how much the fare is and what time train would be best to catch in the morning.
Many thanks.

Hello,
Yes, Ventimiglia market is open each Friday. Cost for train from Nice to Ventimiglia and return is around 12 €. There are more than 2 trains per hours from Nice to Ventimiglia .... and for the return.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply.
Hoping to visit this Friday if the weather good.
It%26#39;s been a wonderful day weather-wise today in Nice, so fingers crossed!
Thanks again.

little-hat. Hope you don%26#39;t mind the suggestion. Ventimiglia is nice, but!!!if you have the time, once you have %26#39;done%26#39; the market. take the train to the next stop which is Bordelino. It%26#39;s only about another 5-6 minutes along the line. It is a wonderful little town, full of character and lovely people. Take the steps up and you will find another world. It%26#39;s a real %26#39;find%26#39;. I only know about it through being in Nice last September, visited Ventimiglia, got talking to an artist who told us about Bordelino. Anyhow hope you enjoy if you go.

Beware of buying brand copies: there alot of that going on there. And they can check easily (border police or customs back to England)
You should also check out San Remo, not far from there

Thank you so much for tips about Bordelino (sounds lovely - will definately pay a visit there). Also, will be careful re the fake brands, so thanks to both of you for taking the time to comment.

To Sinbadone1 :
Is Bordelino between Ventimiglia and San Remo? There is a Bordighera, 1st stop on your way from Ventimiglia to San Remo but I%26#39;ve tried to find Bordelino and can%26#39;t find it. Your post tickled my interest and I may stop by next September.

Hi there.
I think Sinbadone did indeed mean Bordighera and not Bordelino. We went to Ventimiglia station on Friday and couldn%26#39;t find a Bordelino, hence think it%26#39;s -ghera. Didn%26#39;t manage to get there as we had just missed the train and there wasn%26#39;t another for 2 hours, so headed back to Nice.
Ventimiglia market was OK, but wouldn%26#39;t rave about it. But then it IS winter, have to keep reminding myself. I am sure that in the summertime the market itself will look more appealing.

Is San Remo worth a day trip from Nice? Is it easy to get to?
|||
I would say it is worth it: it%26#39;s a beautiful and well known town. The casino is beautiful, you have even a castle and gorgeous villas and palaces. Go there in January and you will see why it%26#39;s the city of flowers...The Italian song festival is held there in March and you even have a rallye.
Very easy to go by train from Ventimilgia, even by car from Nice (1h), but avoid during high season cause heavy traffic....

Can I get a direct train or bus from Nice?
