Train or Bus from Paris

I know there are many posts about getting to Mont St Michel from Paris. But is it easier to take a day tour without the lunch option on a bus from Paris than taking the train and then catching the bus.I see most bus tours give you about 4 hours on the mont which would be about the same if we caught the trian etc

Four hours on the Mont are plenty. I suspect taking the TGV to Rennes and then the special bus to MSM would be the least tiring option.

it is just a question about what you want. taking a bus from paris to mont st michel takes 4 hours to go, then you pass around 8 hours in a bus for staying like 3-4 hours at mont st michel.the other deal is using tgv from paris to rennes then bus shuttle to mont st michel, with cie %26quot;sncf%26quot;, which is better in a way you re more relaxed and can stay more time there. the last deal can be from rennes a bus with one stop to mont st michel plus two others stops in brittany, this last deal is only if you want to see more than just mont st michel which is near that nice western part of france. with cie %26quot;brittany-best-breaks%26quot; for tours, it is really worth it particularly if you do not want spoiling your time in transport just for one spot!

About 4 hours on Mont St Michel is all you will need.

It%26#39;s a fairly ordinary big church at the end of a fairly ordinary street. The only thing that really separates it from most the other big churches and streets in France is the fact it%26#39;s an island. That and the fact that it has more tourists than most.

I would also take a picnic lunch - the Mont isnt renowned as being great for food.

My preference would be to catch an early TGV to Rennes, hire a car for a day and drive. This saves you at least an hour travel in each direction and gives you the option of seeing somewhere else as well if the island fails to ignite you.

Don%26#39;t worry about the driving thing - although you will spend the first 15 minutes trying to change gear with the window winder, it%26#39;s much easier than you expect. Roundabouts will feel weird though.......
