1st Time - Which Slopes

10 of us are travelling to Chamonix for the first time in February and interested to know what is the best slopes to go for?

We%26#39;re a mixed ability group - some confident, a couple of intermediates and at least 4 beginners.

We%26#39;re staying in the Flora Apartments on Route de La Roumniaz which I understand to be pretty central.

Any advice?

I would probably go to Le Tour at the end of the valley. There is a beginners run at the bottom (the beginners runs are all in the valley and the harder runs up the mountain either by gondola or cable car)then a gondola up so that the beginners can meet up the slopes for lunch at the restaraunt. These are probably the least challenging slopes but are still good fun and a good start to the week.

Flegere also has a couple of reasonably easy runs plus some steeper ones all up the mountain but there is quite a narrow track to ski down to get onto the wider slope but doable unless absolute beginners. Also nice sun terraces here at the restaraunt

Thanks! Sounds like sound advice.

Everyone else agree?

Yes. I would agree with Flegere. We had great fun on the green run of La Trappe, gentle but varied, long enough to get a bit of rhythm going, nice and sheltered, opportunities to go gently %26quot;off piste%26quot;, lovely terrace at the top where you can eat your own food if you wish. See chaletinthemountains.com/…20flegere.htm

Re the reply about La Tour. It is great for beginners but i think the La Vormaine nursery area is on a different lift pass.

You might want to check this.

I agree with Flegere.

The 2 Green runs at the top of the cable car ended up being our favorites as beginners. You can always walk down the initial narrow section if you dont feel comfortable, then it widens out really nicely.
