2 - 3 days in Corsica

As part of a 6 week driving holiday through southern Europe in May/June, I will be spending 2 or 3 days, in Corsica - perhaps even 4.

We will arrive in Bonifacio by ferry from Sardinia and leave from Calvi by ferry to Marseille.

I would be grateful to any Corsican experts out there for suggestions as to the route we should take from one end of the island to the other, what we should not miss and suggestions as to some excellent hotels along the way.

Thank you.

Here are a couple of possible routes for you:

1) From Bonifacio, take the road towards Porto Vecchio, making detours to Santa Manza and/or Palombaggio beaches on the way. From Porto Vecchio, drive up to Zonza via Ospedale and detour to Bavella (or else Solenzara, Bavella, Zonza) and then on to Quenza for the Hotel Sole Monte (renowned for good food).

From Quenza, drive towards Ajaccio. You can either take part of the road round the south coast of the gulf or else visit Ajaccio. Then drive to Cargèse, visit the Greek church, then to Piana and the Calanche (red rock formations). Stay overnight in Piana or Porto. Roches rouges in Piana is a dated hotel with an interesting atmosphere and fantastic views. Above is a modern equivalent but without the atmosphere. In Porto, I might choose the Capo d%26#39;Ortu because the rooms are nice and so is the welcome but it is not down on the marina.

From Porto take the coast road to Calvi. The best hotel is apparently La Villa. I would try for the Caravelle which is just off the beach.

2) Drive to Sartène, visit Porto Pollo (for its 1950s Mediterranean atmosphere, Filitosa (prehistoric statue menhirs) and stay at U Mulinu by the Pont de Calzola.

Drive to Ajaccio, and then inland towards Vizzavona for walks in the forest, then to Corte. You could stay at the Auberge Restonica.

Drive to Ile Rousse, possibly making a side trip up the Scala Santa Regina and/or visiting the tortoise park at Moltifao on the way, then to Calvi via the %26quot;vieux villages%26quot;, i.e. inland to Corbara, Pigna, Sant%26#39;Antonino, Cateri, Zilia and Calenzana.

Hi!

Just wondering if this route can be done in 4 days? I have 6-7 days and was planning also a South to North journey, but I am worried about the distances and time, but this sounds dooable?

Thanks!
