birmingham -paris-lourdes

Hi i am planning a trip from birmingham to lourdes, with a couple of days stopover in paris and return from lourdes. Which is the best way to travel from paris-lourdes and then from lourdes back to birmingham?A bit worried about travel as i am travelling with elderly parents.

Not sure about Birmingham/Paris but regarding Paris/Lourdes you have 2 options: the easiest one for elderly persons and the cheapest but maybe the longest is the train: it%26#39;s direct from paris gare montparnasse to lourdes. You can have a look on this website: http://www.voyages-sncf.com/ Not sure if they do an English version. Let me know if you need any help.

The other option is the plane: Orly-lourdes. But that means getting to Orly from where ever you are and then getting a taxi to Lourdes (30min drive - 75 Euros)

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need more info.

This is the uk site for French railways http://www.sncf.co.uk/

The TGV fast train takes about 5 1/2 hours Paris / Lourdes. I would not recommend the cheaper, but much longer regular train for elderly people. Since you will already be in Paris, it%26#39;s worth considering flying Paris / Lourdes / Paris since Orly airport is not so far for the outward flight and for the return journey, there is a shuttle bus from Orly to Charles de Gaulle airport from where you would get your flight to Birmingham.

If you think all that traveling would be too much, why not consider visiting Paris another time and enquire at your parish church for an organised pilgrimage to Lourdes which would take all the strain off you. You could also check specialised travel agents who deal in pilgrimages
