We are arriving CDG around 10PM, so we will be heading Paris late at night. I checked the timetables and there are trains every ten minutes, but is it safe?

Generally yes, you will be safe. But if it were me, I would take a taxi at that late hour.

The worst I%26#39;ve seen on the Paris métro system involved two teens scrawling gibberish on the windows around 12am.
Do you know what RER/métro stop you%26#39;ll be using?

chatelet, and I realize it comlicated...

The only time I really had any type of %26quot;incident%26quot; was traveling from CDG on the RER %26quot;B%26quot;. It was in the morning at about 10 am. Some dirty scumbag was going from car to car, confronting people for money, small change. He was awfully belligerent, worse than anything I%26#39;ve ever seen on the NYC subways. He really got into it verbally with some poor guy, I thought it was going to get violent, but it didn%26#39;t.

%26quot;...safe..%26quot;...YES....an occasional %26#39;seedy%26#39; element en route...SOMETIMES...but you can encounter this at almost any RER or Metro ligne at any time of day or night (the #1 Metro ligne has a much higher number of reported incidences of petty-crimes-of-opportunity). Would I ride the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne from CDG to Paris...later at night...with my wife and baggage...YES...certainly. It%26#39;s fast, efficient...and as an extra added bonus...less expensive.
As for arriving at Chatelet, you need to understand that the entire Chatelet station complex is huge (sprawls under 20-24 square blocks of Paris...is a nexus for 5 Metro and 3 RER lignes...covering enough real estate for ther to be 2 separate stops for the #4 Metro ligne...with dozens of entrances/exits throughout the area) comprised of three(3) separate but interconnected stations--CHATELET Metro (lignes #1,4,7,11 %26amp;14)...CHATELET-Les HALLE RER (lignes A, B %26amp; D) and Les HALLES Metro (ligne #4). The particular portion of the %26#39;..complex..%26#39; the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne will arrive at is

I only took the last RER B line of the evening once, but felt perfectly safe, no problems what so ever.
|||
Who can predict anything with a high degree of certainty ? Life and the events which flow from it are changeable. Maybe you should just take a taxi, given that you are arriving fairly late in the evening.
|||
For me, anything to avoid Chatelet late at night with a lot of luggage...yuk. A taxi may feel like a luxury, but it%26#39;s a small price to pay to eliminate all the %26quot;what ifs%26quot; and worries.

thank you all for your answers !!
We will decide on the spot. I think we will try the RER.
