Has anyone had experience booking through hotwire and would you recommend it? the not knowing the name of the hotel thing before booking seems a little scary??

I would NEVER use them for a hotel in Paris, I see the airline %26quot;deals%26quot; they send me and they are NOT good , in fact I got a better rate on my own. I bet you can get a better deal on a hotel on your own too, and know exactly what you are getting for you money, the location etc. to me that is important.Agencies like Hotwire don%26#39;t use cute little %26quot;hidden gem%26quot; hotels either.

I used hotwire for Paris and ended up with the Paris Hilton.
You should check biddingfortravel to see what hotels are going for and what rate for the times you want. You are able to get the area you want and star level of service but not the name...also check pricelines viewed site and go from there. Good luck!!

My point exactly , big American chain hotel,, I hope the price was good anyways.

I just used booked through Hotwire and I got the Best Western Derby Eifell hotel near the Eifell Tower. A 3 star hotel for $120 U.S. a night. I did save some money. And it%26#39;s a pretty price especially for the location.
At first I was disappointed that I got an American chain hotel and wanted something French. However, the hotel did get loads of positive reviews and I saw the photos of the place and it did not look like your typical Best Western. In fact looked very nice in a great location in the 7th arondisement.
I%26#39;ve had very good experiences with Hotwire in the past so hopefully it will be good in Paris. It probablly will since the hotel did get a lot of good reviews.
The only caveat is that with Hotwire, you could end up with an American chain hotel but it may not be that bad. The hotel could be in an old French buidling so it could could still feel French.

I%26#39;ve never been treated poorly as a priceline cutomer, but at the Paris Hilton they KNOW you paid through hotwire and don%26#39;t expect great service or room, of course you may have a whole different experience. I would use them again as the price was worth the substandard room.
