Recommendation for the nicest hotel on Mont-St.Michel

Hello... My husband and I will be going to Mont St. Michel around the 3rd week in July. I would like to spend the night on MSM for a special occasion. We are in our 50%26#39;s and can get around well. The only hotel options that sound like they would be a little bit special are Le Mere Poulard and Auberge St. Pierre --- since you are knowledgeable about the area, could you advise as to which place you would choose and or what to request upon booking.. i.e. a special room and/or location?? Any other advice would be most appreciated as well.

I have stayed twice at the Relais Mt Saint Michel.

The views, rooms and breakfasts are excellent.

The dinners here are.....questionable ??

Much better off going to the grocery store a few doors down

Thanks for the info, but I am looking to be on the island itself --- so, we can be there at night without the crowds, etc. That is why I only found Le Mere Poulard and/or Auberge St. Pierre --- would love any advice on these accomodations or any other that would be on the island...

nplot. We stayed at the Terrasses Poulard. I believe it is associated somehow with the Mere Poulard, but is not the same.

We loved it. We had three people and had the very most top room in the building. It was a lot of stairs but the room was up to date, the bathroom modern and well supplied. We thought it was great. I know it doesn%26#39;t get as good reviews, and I can%26#39;t figure out why. I was thinking about the Auberge St Pierre as well, but there was one too many who said the rooms were small.

I think if you go there with the idea that you are on the mont and not going to a resort hotel maybe it helps reduce the expectation that you will have a 4 star place.

Just being on the mont is THE special location. Get out of the hotel and wander the mont. Take advantage of being there, watch the sunset from the north tower. It is a marvelous place.

you can try la croix blanche, it is good place for a night, compare to mere poulard it is normaly cheaper and clean.

it is true not so much hotels on the rock, then be careful if you see hotelsin mont st michel, because they can be 1km from the rock ! the reason is that mont st michel is a %26quot;commune%26quot; including the rock island and part of land including all those hotels like relais st michel relais du roy mercure hotel ...which are not on the rock even if not so far too
