best area to stay with a budget

Hi going to paris in march, was just wondering the best area to stay in? looking at a hotel in the latin quarter %26#39;trianon rive gauche%26#39; is it any good? close to attractions?

thanks

You%26#39;ve chosen a great area for sure. I think the 5th and 6th arrondissements offer both charm in their own right and proximity to other sites. Reviews for the Trianon Rive Gauche seem a little mixed. There are always many posts on Trip Advisor about hotels in this area. If I were you, I would browse through the Paris forum for some ideas, then check out reviews of the hotels that are mentioned.

How long will you be there? I, and many others who post here, recommend renting a flat rather than staying in a hotel if you are going to be there more than one or two nights. Depending on the rental agency, flats are available anywhere from 3 nights and up.

I will be staying at one in the 5th arondissement when I go in August.

Some small flats are very competitive on price, e.g., Vacation in Paris (www.vacationinparis.com) has some with three night minimums around $100 USD per night. Don%26#39;t know that hotel (check the reviews here?), but I%26#39;m sure others can comment.

%26quot;on a budget%26quot;.... so what%26#39;s the budget for accomodation? and I don%26#39;t fully agree that apartments are %26#39;cheaper%26#39; than hotels, especially if no kids or teens are involved.

Here are some of the options for places to rent through:

Here is the agency I am going through:

Here are some others that I have seen in this forum :

On the apartment vs hotel question, I%26#39;ve wondered whether, if you are visiting a place for the first time, it is better to stay in a hotel in case you have questions, need reservations, etc. If you are staying in an apartment is there anyone to have as a resource?

I%26#39;m in the beginning planning stage for our trip to France in August and having questions answered is on my mind!

would prefer to stay in a hotel i think, just for the convenience. The hotel i looked at is £220 for the three night b %26amp; b which isnt too bad, perhaps a little less.
