hi, looking for a different hol this year (no beach).
whole family never ski%26#39;d before.
other issue is 1st two weeks in April excuse my ignorance, is there any sking at that time and if so where for absolute beginning - budget an issue.

OK try skiing.
1st two weeks in April is late so you need a resort with skiing above 2000 metres.
This discounts most Austrian resorts except Iscgal, St anton , Obergurgle etc.
In France Chamonix , Val de Isere, Tignes etc are OK
Switzerland is also OK.
For absolute beginners I always recommend trying it out on a dry slope, if you have one nearby, as you may not like skiing. It is cheaper to find out there than go to the expense of a skiing holiday. But this is your choice really.
Best for beginners is Austria (in my view) or Andorra although the snow can be a little sparse in Andorra towards the end of the season.

Concal
If you go to Chamonix the nearest airport is Geneva.
Transfer time about 90 minutes. But this depends on whether you go on the public bus service, private transfer or hire a car.
