Advise needed!

I was just thinking of making a trip to France in summer.

What do you think of the plan to go from Austria via Antwerp to the French/Belgium border and start a tour along the coast (where it is possible) via

-Normandie

-Bretagne

-then south along the West coast until Biarritz

-then back via Cote d´ Azur

We would have 2 weeks and would not have to explore the south coast - Provence and Cote d´ Azur - too much as we have been there already for many, many times.

We would like concentrate on the other coastlines an areas.

What do you think of this plan?

Would it be possible in 2 weeks?

Which are the must-sees on this route?

Which stops would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for your help!

what hell a marathon you want to plan ...

First of all, what do you mean by summer ? because august is a very busy month, hard to find lodging ...Begining of july would be better, but please forget your idea, you are in holidays, not on a rally. I would suggest you to explore the next region :

coming from the belgium border, you can visit Abbeville, spend a night at Le Touquet or Boulogne sur Mer or Hardelot Plage. Then Etretat, Le Havre, Honfleur, Deauville, Bayeux, the american memorial cemetery, Mont St Mïchel, Cancale (oysters), St Malo, Dinard ... more time to spend, continue the britany coast untill La Baule, Le Croisic, Nantes and take the way back to your country ...2 weeks will not be enough to see all what you have to see ...

If you want to visit the South West area, forget the Belgium road, cross the Switzerland, then the highway to Lyon, St Etienne, Clermond Ferrand, Brive, Bordeaux and start to explore the the region, Lacanaux Ocean, the Medoc area, Arcachon, then Hossegor, Bayonne, Biarritz, St Jean de Luz, San Sebastian (Spain) then the Pays Basque backland, and take the mountains roads through the Pyrénées till Narbonne (and back home) ...don%26#39;t worry, 2 weeks would be a minimum time to plan your trip

I have been considering a similar trip by train.

You can buy a France rail pass for 299EUR, which gives 8 days use on any days within up to a month.

My plan is travel one day, stay two nights in a place and then travel again. So you get a good taste of different places and a whole day and night in each place visited.

In 16 days it is quite easy (in theory) to head out of Paris and head south-west towards Biarritz, stopping at several places en route, then swing round through Toulouse and Marseille, Lyon and back to Paris.

But as goes without saying, the possibilities for different trips are endless.

But I would never attempt to do the trip in July or August due to crowds.

Thanks a lot!
