area 5 or area7

Hi All

After spending 5 days looking at hotek revies I have decided to rent an apartment for my stay in Paris.

COuld you tell me if the Eiffel Tower or Latin Quarter area would be best?

I am unable to walk to far although I do have a wheelchair, and our plans are to be able to go out in day go back to apartment for rest and then go out in the evening. We do not want to have to use the metro in evening. As we find the London tube bad enough on the few occasions we have used it at night.

WHICH area would be best for eating/shopping in the evening.

This is a great site for getting advice and any help is appreciated.

You will probably be better off in the Latin Quarter considering your requirements. The 7th is beautiful, it%26#39;s quiet, but it%26#39;s not easy walking distance to much that is central.

The Latin Quarter is very central and has all you need for food in the evening.

Question for Les68, we are also debating between 5th or 7th. We don%26#39;t mind walking-everyone we know kept telling us the Marais or 5th and 6th, but for some odd reason, I keep going back to the 7th, it is our first time in Paris-what do you think? Thanks!

Bubbly-bubbles,

I agree that the 5th sounds like it would be more convenient for your needs. There are lots of cafes, restaurants and shops in that area. You won%26#39;t have to walk far to dinner in the evenings.

Have a great time!

The fifth or sixth .

Mant apartments don%26#39;t have elevators and many places have crazy winding narrow steps, be careful to check if apartment has elevator,

PS It is %26quot;arrondissmont%26quot; not area. %26quot;Area%26quot; reminds me of that place somewhere in the desert in the States called %26quot;Area 51%26quot; where people think the UFOs landed,,LOL

Ok , I also think the Latin quartier is great for both night and day activities.

I know an apartment you can rent with no stairs, very quiet in the courtyard and with a lot of space.

It is seconds away from Cardinal Lemoine%26#39;s Metro so very close from jardin des plantes , Pantheon, luxembourg garden ect...

Bubbly.

Not knowing your party size or budget, I have inserted two links for flats in the 5th. We have used this company multiple times...the flats are all renovated, modern and in good locations. We would not hesitate to recommend them (Sophie and Phillipe are great...planning, arrival and departure). They can also arrange transportation to/from CDG.

My wife and I stayed in the fifth near the cardinal lemoine metro stop and while a good location, not good for handicapped people. There are some decent hills in this area. My wife and I spent much our time the 7th and loved it, especially the Rue de Grenelle area. Its flat, easy to get around, and great eating. P%26#39;tit Troquet and Au Petit Tonneau were our favorites in all of Paris.

The 5th is much more interesting in my opinion.
