Lyon help please

Hello,

I am travelling to Lyon for the 1st time in Feb 2008. Please could you give me information for a decent hotel.

I am travelling to see the match between Lyon V Manchester United with my son and would like to know how far the stadium (stade gerland) is from the city centre, and then how far the city centre is from Aeroport Lyon Saint Exupery.

Ideally getting a hotel in the city centre would be great, if its not too far from either the Aeroport or stade gerland. Also somewhere with good transport links to get to the stadium.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi there

Suggest you take a look a the lyon hotel page on this website, have noted the hotel La Residence is generally very much liked and well-priced. The hotel is very well located, in the heart of the city.

From that hotel getting to the stadium will be quite easy using the Metro. Gerland stadium is located at the south end if B line, and it takes a maximum of 20 minutes to get there from hotel La Residence.

Saint Exupery airport is located around 25 Km outside Lyon, a shuttle coach connects with the city center every 20 minutes. Leave the bus at end stop Lyon-Perrache rail station, then you%26#39;ve about 700 m. to walk to the hotel in Rue Victor Hugo pedestrian street.

Enjoy your trip.

You may also search for hotels recommandations on this forum : you will find lots of ideas, included hotels in Gerland that were recommended for previous matches.

I am also travelling to this game from Manchester with a big group.

For extra freedom, we%26#39;re recenting an apartment for two days as it worked much cheaper in Kiev with added luxury and independence compared with a hotel.

Contact me if you fancy staying in the same complex as fellow reds.

I lived in Lyon for 6 weeks 2 summers ago while studying abroad for law school. I didn%26#39;t stay at La Residence, but several of my friends did. The really great thing about the hotel was its location. Its right in the middle of %26quot;Old%26quot; Lyon, where all the shops and restaurants are. I stayed at a place in %26quot;New%26quot; Lyon, on the other side of the river, which was close to the Universite where my classes were, but further away from all the cool stuff. All in all, I think La Residence is a good place to stay in terms of value and location. However, I don%26#39;t know where the stadium is located (or the airport for that matter - I flew into Paris and took the metro to Lyon), but the Metro system in Lyon is very good and easy to use, so you shouldn%26#39;t have a problem getting around. Enjoy your trip!
