We are going to be in Paris in mid August and are planning to stay in the 6th arrondissment. Our hotel choices are between the Aubusson and the Lutetia. The Aubusson is smaller, somewhat better located but pricier. The Lutetia has a better rate but is much bigger and perhaps not kept up? I was wondering if anyone knew about each of these hotels and which might be a better choice for a family. As always, the reviews are mixed. Most say each hotel in wonderful, but they each have a couple that say they%26#39;re not, so it%26#39;s hard to decide based on the reviews.

I%26#39;m not sure that you%26#39;re any more likely to get any better or more consistent opinions than you got from the past guest hotel reviews %26amp; comments. BOTH are good choices as hotels.
But since throughout your entire hotel selection process, you have always appeared to have leaned toward the Hotel d%26#39;Aubusson (d%26#39;Aubusson vs.???) and the location and neighborhood is difficult to beat...why not just make up your own mind and book the d%26#39;Aubusson ??... and then get on with the remainder of your research and planning??

Lutetia is a huge hotel with lazy staff and cracked walls. The bar is olaways full so you could hardly have a quite drink if you actually find a stool to sit. Same for restaurant.
However the location is great and the view is fantastic (could see the Eifil from my bed). Rooms are big but nor really cosy (the matter of taste of course).
No tea/coffee facilities and room service charge 20 euro for a cup of cold tea and dannish. I rushed to a shop next morning to buy a kettle.
Food is expensive and very French (big plate with 2mm stake).
But all in all sutable for staying. Be aware they charge additional 50 pn for a room with a view.
Not 5 star of course.

I have not stayed at either so tke the below for what it is worth...we always rent a flat when in Paris (and for the rates you are looking at, you can have one heck of a flat - 2 or 3 bedrooms with modern luxuries...having a flat doesn%26#39;t mean you have to cook...take away and other street market options means u never have to use the stove). But I digress..back to the hotels..I read the reviews, looked at traveler pics, searched a few other sites on the net and if I were making the decision, it would be d%26#39;Aubusson. At the highest level, d%26#39;Aubusson is ranked 12, the other 477......
KDKSAIL can correct me if I am wrong but the Lutetia is on the corner of a very busy intersection which can mean noisy mornings, days and nights....

You must understnad that all reviews are going to have one or two %26quot;off%26quot; ones, either much better or much worse then others, so you go for the majority. I mean it is fairly easy sometimes to read between the lines and discover that a reviewer had unrealistic expectations , so they complain bitterly that the %26quot;room was small%26quot; ( well what did they think they would get for 100 euros) or there was no face cloth( not common in Europe period) , or there was no bellboy( not customarily in a 2 star) etc.
