My mother and I are taking two teen girls, ages 13 and 16 to Paris this June. Their parents will not be going with. My question is this: what paperwork do I need to have with me to be able to consent for any medical treatment they might need worst case scenario should anything happen. When I took the 13 year old%26#39;s brother to San Diego last year, I had a healthcare power of attorney that his parents signed. Would this document, signed an notarized in IL be recognized in Paris? Should I call the French consulate here?

Yes, call the French consulate. I believe you will also need something notarized stating that you have the parents%26#39; permission to take their daughters.

You probably will have to translate and legalize the document in a French consulate for it to be recognized in France in the same manner that you have to legalize foreign documents in US consulates for those documents to be legally valid in the US

fletch27: as stated before make sure you have a
notarized letter giving you authority to travel with these two mninors outside of the U.S. signed
by BOTH parents
Have fun!
